Pasta Making Fun!

Last night, Rob and I had been invited over to a friend's birthday dinner.  It was a surprise and we heard there was going to be a cook there (at their house).  It is a close friend so of course we made ourselves available and headed over for some birthday fun.  Well, apparently, it was a woman who comes to your house and teaches you to make your own pasta from scratch!  It was a lot of fun and I'm glad we could share a special birthday dinner with close friends!  So let's go through how to make it :)

Mix 2 cups of flour with 2 cups of semolina.  Make a pile and make a hole in the center to add eggs.  Add 5 eggs and and 2.5 T of olive oil.  She also added about 1.5 teaspoons of salt.

Beat the eggs and then slowly pull in the flour from the edges.

Keep mixing until you get a stiff dough and knead. The wrap in plastic wrap and let sit for about 15 minutes.

When ready, use your nifty little pasta machine to roll and cut your dough (sorry, I don't have any other help for you on this part if you don't have a pasta machine either!)

Place all the pasta in boiling water at once and boil for 3 minutes.  Serve!

And don't forget to eat the ice cream cake too!  Yum!

Fun! I'd made pasta - YEARS ago! Way before we had kids...might be a fun thing to do on a rainy day with the girls...would eliminate the "what's for supper!?!?" I have every night! I even have the ravioli attachment, so they could make their own!
